The Etruscan Spina
Museo Delta Antico
Spina, the reemerged city
One of the most important Etruscan cities in the Mediterranean and a favoured port by Greek ships in the Adriatic.
A city built of wood and clay, it disappeared for centuries, and didn’t resurface again from the waters of the ‘Valli di Comacchio’ (Comacchio Lagoons) until the early 1900’s. Beautiful Attic vases, gold and bronze objects come from the four-thousand tombs found to this day, alongside artefacts from everyday life in the city.
