The olfactory pathway
Museo Delta Antico
Fragrances from the past
Inside the rooms of the Museo Delta Antico, you will be able to smell fragrances inspired by the ancient that will accompany you throughout your visit, to offer you an unprecedented experience of the museum story.
Created by the project ‘The perfume of time’, in collaboration with the University of Ferrara, Claudia Scattolini, and Laura Tonnato, the olfactory pathway is divided into 5 stages that run through all sections of the museum.
On the ground floor, you can experience Incenso (Incense) in the Roman section, and Rosa dei Venti (Wind rose) among the finds of the Valle Ponti wreck. On the first floor, Rosaurora and Acqua di Spina (Water of Spina) in the Etruscan section, and Porta d’Oriente (Eastern Gate) for the early Middle Ages action. These fragrant notes, light and discreet, will form the backdrop to the experience offered by the artefacts, for an unforgettable visit.
