The faces of the Museum

The Museo Delta Antico is the civic archeological museum of the city of Comacchio (FE). The Institution is under the responsibility of the Manager of Sector I, Dr. Barbara Rovetti, and a scientific director for direct management.
The Manager, Director and Department of Culture collaborate to promote artistic and cultural initiatives amd activities.

The external services of the museum, such as the ticket office, bookshop, workshops and guided tours are managed, on a concession basis, by the Società Consortile Gestione Turistica del Po a r.l. (Co.Ge.Tour) di Comacchio (FE) until 2032.

Marco Bruni

Director

Marco Bruni graduated in Ancient History from the University of Bologna in 2011, with a thesis in Ancient Topography concerning the archaeological records of the Ostellato (FE) area, his birthplace. He takes part in various excavation campaigns, both in Italy and abroad. From Uzbekistan where he carried out archaeological surveys in the Zeravshan Valleys, to the United States, where he was involved in the first Italian archaeological mission in the state of Illinois, at the Cahokia Mounds State Historic Site. He graduated in Archaeology and Ancient World Culture in 2014 after a thesis abroad at the Washington University of St Louis (Missouri).

On his return to Italy, he started working as a freelance archaeologist, carrying out research and surveys for both private and public bodies. In 2018, he received a diploma in Specialisation in Archaeological Heritage from the Universities of Trieste, Udine and Venezia Ca’ Foscari with a thesis on the ancient landscape and archaeological sites of “Unione Terre e Fiumi” (FE). Firmly convinced that archaeology can leverage cultural growth in local communities, he has worked with the “Gruppo Archeologico Ferrarese” (Ferrara Archaeological Group) for ten years, coordinating research activities, in collaboration with the Superintendence throughout the entire province of Ferrara..

From 2019 until 2022, he held the role of Assistant Project Manager on the VALUE Interreg Italia-Croatia Project on behalf of the Comune of Comacchio, working with various italian universities for the recommencement of archaeological surveys in the Delta area.

Since December 2022, he has worked at the Cultural Office of the Comune of Comacchio as an archaeologist, supporting the cultural initiatives and the Public Works sector, with which he carries out research and surveys.
He has been the Scientific Director of the Museo Delta Antico since October 2023.

Sabrina Ghirardelli

Head of Teaching

After graduating in Conservation of Cultural Heritage at the Alma Mater Studiorum University of Bologna (Ravenna Campus) in 2006, Sabrina Ghirardelli started her professional career at the “Museo del carico della nave romana” of Comacchio. With over sixteen years of experience in museum environments, today, Sabrina is responsible for the educational activities at the Museo Delta Antico and in the Open-Air Section, where she puts her former studies at art college to good use.

As well as being a very experienced guide, Sabrina is the bookshop coordinator and manages supplier relations. Having always been fascinated by history, art and archaeology, she undertakes her work with enthusiasm and professionalism, proud to be able to live in a place that is rich in history and archaeology. Above all else, she takes pride in being able to show visitors a small part of the ancient cultural identity of Comacchio. Sabrina speaks English.

Carlotta Nordi

Communication and Social Media Manager

Carlotta Nordi graduated in Conservation of Cultural Heritage at the Alma Mater Studiorum University of Bologna (Ravenna Campus) in 2014 and began her training and career path during her university years, collaborating with the “Museo del carico della nave romana” of Comacchio from 2010.

At the Museo Delta Antico, where she has worked since its opening, she has the role of Social Media Manager, and manages digital communication. A highly-experienced museum operator, Carlotta organises numerous guided tours and educational workshops, and speaks English, German and Spanish.

Patrizia Busoli

Museum Operator and Guide

Patrizia Busoli gained her degree in Tourism Studies at the Alma Mater Studiorum University of Bologna (Rimini Campus) in 1986. She completed her training by achieving various qualifications: tour guide, environmental excursion guide, and perfecting her foreign languages.

As a founder of one of the first organisations aimed at tourism in the Comacchio area, she became part of the staff at the “Museo del carico della nave romana” of Comacchio in 2001, obtaining the Certificate for Advanced Competence in Museum Management and Promotion. When the Museo Delta Antico opened, she became part of the staff of the new archaeological museum, assuming the role of tour guide for foreign groups. Patrizia speaks English, German and French.

Marta Cominato

Museum Operator and Guide

Marta Cominato gained a degree in Cultural Heritage at the Alma Mater Studiorum University of Bologna (Ravenna Campus) in 2016. The following year, with the launch of the Museo Delta Antico, she became part of the staff as a Museum Operator, welcoming visitors at the ticket office and specialising in educational activities, particularly focusing on guided tours and workshops for schools.

She continued to dedicate herself to communication about cultural heritage during her masters studies, undertaken again at the Department of Cutural Heritage at the University Of Bologna, from where she graduated in 2023 in Archaeological, Artistic and Landscape Heritage: History, Protection and Enhancement. During her masters degree, she participated in university projects aimed at enhancing knowledge of the historic-artistic heritage. Marta speaks English.

Paolo Buonafede

Logistics and Maintenance Manager

Paolo Buonafede is the technical coordinator for custodial and hospitality services, as well as for fire and security services at the Museo Delta Antico. In particular, he manages the multimedia and audiovisual installations and provides logistic support in managing educational activities and distributing promotional material to information offices, welcome centres and trade fairs.

AUSER

Volunteers

Since its launch, the volunteer group, AUSER (associazione per l’autogestione dei servizi e la solidarietà – Association for self-management of services and solidarity) has collaborated with the Comune of Comacchio and with the Manager for Welcome and Surveillance Support Services at the Museo Delta Antico. Guided by Cinzia Mezzogori, representative, the volunteers work with internal staff to help visitors along the exhibition route, whilst at the same time monitoring other spaces in the museum. Groups of volunteers, driven by a strong community spirit, demonstrate how much the city community cares about its roots and history.
