The Romans in the Delta
Museo Delta Antico
The footprint of Rome on the Delta
A crossroads of trade between waterways and land routes, under the control of Rome.
Roads brought communication between the Delta and the main cities of the Adriatic, from Rimini to Aquileia. Here, the Romans built large towns, vast cemeteries, celebratory monuments, and sacred buildings which still, to this day, are important testimonies of their greatness.
